    EL CAJON POLICE DEPARTMENT

Nearly 100,000 people reside in the City of El Cajon. The protection of those residents and their property is the responsibility of the El Cajon Police Department. The Police Department is comprised of several divisions, such as Patrol, Traffic Enforcement, Animal Control, Records, Investigations, Reserves and several volunteer groups.

The Department’s Patrol Division is the foundation for law enforcement in the area. There are 60 uniformed officers and ten supervisors who work 24-hours a day, 7 days a week. Patrol officer duties include responding to calls for service, enforcing traffic laws, taking reports, resolving disputes and making arrests.

When someone is arrested in El Cajon, they will be transported to a nearby San Diego County jail.

The arrestee will be booked into the system. This process will include fingerprinting, photographs, a background check and warrant search. They will also be searched for drugs, weapons and contraband. Personal property will be collected and held until they’re released from jail.

The booking process could take anywhere from 2-4 hours to complete, depending on the workload of the jail staff. Bail will be set and the arrestee will be able to post bail for release.

    Bail Bond Process

The paperwork for a bail bond is simple to complete and can be started by phone and completed online via fax, email or in person. You can come to our office or an agent will arrange to meet with you at your home or office, or the jail where your loved one is being held.

The cost of a bail bond is 10% of the total bail amount. For instance, if the defendant’s bail is $10,000 then the fee for the bond will be $1,000.

This fee is set by the California Department of Insurance and cannot be increased or decreased for any reason. It is also non-refundable, regardless of the outcome of the court case.

To pay for a bail bond, we accept all major credit cards for speedy processing. We will also make a bail bond payment plan for clients who qualify.

There are never additional taxes or fees associated with a bail bond, regardless of the payment method. In most cases, collateral is not required.
