ONTARIO POLICE DEPARTMENT AND JAIL INFORMATION

The Ontario Police Department established a neighborhood-policing plan known as Area Command that provides true geographic accountability through the creation of three separate geographical areas within the city. Each area, designated as West Area, East Area, and South Area. The mission of the Ontario Police Department is to protect life and property, solve neighborhood problems, and enhance the quality of life in the community.

When someone is arrested in Ontario, they will be taken to the Ontario police station for pre-booking. When complete, they will generally be transported to the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga for booking and processing into the jail system.

The booking process typically consists of fingerprinting, photographs or "mug shots," background checks for warrants, parole holds, etc. This process can take from 2 to 4 hours to complete.

One the bail bond paperwork has been completed, our licensed bondsman will “post” the bail bond at the detention facility. This will result in the release of the defendant. From start to finish, the entire process can be completed within 1-2 hours.

Release from jail can generally take anywhere from 30 minutes to 4 hours or more, depending upon the jail staff and the individuals case. It’s important to know that if the defendant is not bailed out, he or she will generally remain in custody until the matter has been resolved in court.
