Two men are now behind bars after a butt-dial called 9-1-1 during the crime.   The suspects, Nathan Teklemariam and Carson Rinehart have since been booked into the Fresno County Jail.  Jail officials said the pair of 20 year-olds are facing charges of possession of stolen property, conspiracy to commit a crime and breaking into a vehicle.

The incident began when Rinehart's phone decided to butt-dial emergency dispatchers while he was on a mission to find drugs.  The operator decided not to hang up and instead listened for a period of time.  Rinehart and his friend discussed searching for marijuana for approximately 30 minutes.  They eventually changed their topic of discussion to breaking into a parked vehicle.  One man was heard asking the other for a hammer and a bolt.  The men broke one of the car's windows in order to gain entry.  They were reportedly excited to find prescription drugs had been stashed inside.

The men fled the scene of the crime but made plans to come back again later.  Rinehart's phone continued to transmit their conversation to the 9-1-1 operator and the dispatcher was able to determine their location.  That information was relayed to the Fresno Police Department.  Officers found the men a short time later, pulled them over, and took them into custody.  It was at that time that Rinehart learned his accidental butt-dial is what led to their capture.
