UCLA POLICE DEPARTMENT AND BAIL BOND PROCESS

It is the mission of the UCLA Police Department at Los Angeles is to maintain a safer environment by maintaining a high state of readiness and providing crime prevention programs.

The UCLA Police Department works closely with local law enforcement in a collaborative effort to prevent crime and apprehend criminal suspects.

Officers of UCLA Police Department frequently make arrests for both misdemeanors and felonies. For many misdemeanor arrests, the arrestee is taken to the UCLA police station to complete the arrest and booking procedures.

When completed, the subject is generally released with a citation to appear in court. This is known as a “cite-out”.

When someone is arrested for a felony at UCLA, and sometimes for misdemeanor charges, after arrest and booking procedures are complete, the arrestee is transported to a Los Angeles County Jail facility for custody.

It is at this stage when a bail bond can be posted with the appropriate L.A. County facility.

Once transported to a County Jail facility, inquiries regarding the release status of an arrestee should be made to the Los Angeles County Sheriffs' Department or bail bond company, not to the UCLA Police.

After release on bail, students may want to contact UCLA Student Legal Services.  They may be able to guide you through your legal troubles.

UCLA Bail Bond posting is processed by the County of Los Angeles. Please call us for immediate UCLA bail information. Call us at 310-275-6465 or 888-BAIL-BOND.  Our office is open 24 hours.
