Since there is not a jail located at the Calexico Police station, when someone has been arrested in the area of Calexico they will be transported to the Imperial County Jail located in El Centro for processing and booking into the system. The booking process can take several hours to complete, depending upon the defendant’s specific case. Once the defendant is "cleared" by the jail, a bail bond may be posted.
Release from the Imperial County Jail can take anywhere from 2 to 6 hours, depending upon how busy the jail staff is at any particular time. If the defendant is not bailed out, he or she will generally remain in custody until the matter has been resolved in court.
BAIL PROCESS & COST
During our initial phone consultation with you, we will collect basic information about the defendant’s situation. We will ask questions such as how long the defendant has lived in their current residence, when were they arrested, what their charges are, if they’re employed, etc.
We do this to assess the risk in handling the bond.
Once the bond has been approved, generally within minutes the necessary forms will need to be signed. Both the bail application and contract are two simple and easy to understand documents.
A bail bond in California costs 10% which is the California mandated law. This is a non-refundable percentage of the total amount of the bail.
For example, should the bail amount be $10,000, your portion will cost $1,000.
We realize that not everyone may have a perfect credit background; therefore, we offer creative financing solutions. Within minutes, we’ll advise you if you qualify. And, most of our customers may find it easy to qualify for a signature bond.
Calexico is the border town within close proximity to the metropolitan areas of Mexicali and San Diego.
