If you have found out that someone you know has been arrested and charged with a federal crime, we can help.

Federal crimes are handled a bit differently than state crimes and you should know that inmates who are facing federal charges will be held in different facilities and will need to appear in different courts.

When you call our office and speak to an El Centro federal bail bondsman you will want to make sure you are able to provide as much information as you can about the defendant, the crime they have been charged with and the general area in which they were arrested.

We will need to know the defendant’s first and last name, their date of birth, and the jail they are being held in, if you know it.

Unlike with criminal cases; where defendants area almost always permitted to post bail prior to their arraignment, persons charged with federal crimes must first appear before a Magistrate.  The Magistrate has sole discretion as to whether bail will be granted, what the bail amount will be, and whether the defendant is permitted to bail with or without certain restrictions.

Federal defendants will be arraigned at the U.S. District Courthouse in San Diego within 72 hours of their arrest.
