SONOMA DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

Since the mid-1800's the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office has provided law enforcement, court security services and detention services to the citizens of Sonoma County. The Department currently employs over 1,000.

The Sheriff's Department is responsible for primary law enforcement services of the unincorporated area and the by contract for cities of  Windsor police services and Sonoma police services. These law enforcement services are provided by the over 275 Deputy Sheriffs in the Patrol Bureau, Investigations Bureau, Court Security and Transportation Bureaus.

For over ten years, the Sonoma County Sheriff's office has been committed to the idea of community oriented policing and problem solving. It is a concept which is based on the fundamental that crime is not just a law enforcement problem, but a community problem.

SUBSTATION INFORMATION

Guerneville Sub-Station

The Guerneville Substation (also referred to as the River Substation) is where patrol services for the west part of Sonoma County are based. The Substation is staffed with two Sergeants, sixteen Deputy Sheriffs, three Resident Deputy Sheriffs and one Community Services Officer.

The Sonoma Valley Substation is located in the heart of the Valley of the Moon. This Substation is staffed with two Sergeants, sixteen Deputy Sheriffs and one Community Services Officer.
