The Ridgecrest Police Department works to form a lasting and mutually rewarding partnership with their community based on respect. When someone is arrested in the Ridgecrest area, defendants may be taken to a temporary holding facility at the Police Department only for a short while. They will then be transferred to the Ridgecrest Susbstation Jail.

The booking process at the Ridgecrest substation jail will generally consist of taking photographs of the defendant or (mug shots), collecting their fingerprints and conducting background checks.
