FREMONT POLICE DEPARTMENT BOOKING & BAIL PROCESS

The Fremont jail is a small county jail that is only designed to hold prisoners for a day or two. This facility is a "Type-I" facility that is designed to hold approximately 70 prisoners.

Arrestees are brought to the Freemont jail for booking from CHP, East Bay Police, BART Police Department as well as those that are arrested regarding immigration issues. (Note that we do not handle immigration bonds.)

The arrested individuals will go through the basic booking procedures including being fingerprinted, photographed and checked for warrants (outstanding cases in California and nationwide). The arrestees will have their personal items removed and will be evaluated for psychological or physical dangers to themselves or others.

After the booking process is completed, bail will be set and arrestees are available to be bailed out. Sometimes an arrestee will contact a bail bond company or they will contact a friend or relative to handle this for them.

Posting bail at the Fremont Police Department can be done 24 hours a day in the jail lobby. Defendants that are being held in the Fremont jail are often scheduled for their first court appearance (arraignment) in department #604 at 2:00pm.

The Fremont Hall of Justice is located at 39439 Paseo Padre Parkway, Fremont, CA. The Alameda County website offers some useful information about the Fremont (Alameda County) court system.

In the event that a prisoner is unable to post bail, they may eventually be transferred to the Santa Rita Jail in Dublin.

UNDERSTANDING THE LEGAL & BAIL BOND PROCESS

If you utilize a bail bond company, your cost in California is typically 10% (which is mandated by state law for most bonds). If you choose to post the entire amount, you can go directly to the jail.

For example, for a $20,000 bond the jail will require a $20,000 cashier's check or cash which will be refunded when the case has been finalized. If you utilize a bail bond company, the cost will be a non-refundable fee of $2,000.

As a company that handles bail bonds in Fremont California, we can't give you specific legal advice. The court system can be overwhelming to those that are not used to dealing with such matters.

Be aware that most appearances for criminal matters are mandatory. If you don't appear for your scheduled appearance, you may be subject to arrest (bench warrant will be issued). If you decide to appear at an earlier time than your scheduled appearance, sometimes the court will make allowances for this situation.

A court check-list might include, but is not limited to, the following items; proper ID, bail bond paperwork, payment money for fines, copy of citation and sentencing orders.

Many ethical bail bond companies are present in the Fremont area to service your needs. Be aware, however, that recently the bail industry has had a plethora of unscrupulous agents (who may or may not be licensed with the State of California) that will solicit business in an illegal manner.

For example, they will scour jail records and "cold-call" family members. Aside from the ambulance chasing nature of this method of doing business, it is illegal to cold call somebody regarding a bail bond. If somebody cold calls you on the phone, inquire how they got your phone number.

If their answer is unsatisfactory, you should resist doing business with these scam artists. Otherwise, you may be doing business with somebody that is breaking the law in order to get your money.

We hope that you utilize our bail bond company for your bail needs. Please feel free to contact us 24 hours a day with no obligation.
