Grand Theft Search For Love Becomes Search For Bail

A man in Southwest Pennsylvania found himself in pretty hot water last week after he stole a firetruck to impress a girl.  But the middle-aged man who may have been searching for love has instead found himself searching bail bonds.

It all started when 46 year-old Randy Davis started spending time with a friend who works as a volunteer fireman.   Police think that's how the man figured out how to get into the building and where the firetruck's keys were stored.

To Davis, it probably seemed like a harmless joyride.  He and his lady friend snuck into the building, unplugged the …

Police Say This Driver Took “DOA” To New Levels

Michigan police say they're still trying to figure out what they're going do with a man who was so determined to finish his road trip, that he failed to call a coroner after one of his passengers kicked the bucket.

The driver, a 62 year-old man from the Detroit Area said he and his elderly mom were returning from Arizona for the winter.  The third passenger in the vehicle, he said was a woman half his age who he was reportedly involved with romantically.

But back to the story.

It all started last weekend when the younger woman checked herself out  of …

Activist Sues Police After She Was Arrested For Clapping

A California woman said she's suing the Riverside Police Department for violating her Constitutional right to clap.

It all started last summer when Letitia Pepper attended a city council meeting.   Although it's not entirely clear what the council was voting on that night, what is known is that the mayor asked attendees to refrain from clapping after public comments.

Noisy shows of support could dissuade others from chiming in, he said, especially if those people had alternative viewpoints.

But Pepper wasn't swayed, and when one particular speaker finished speaking his mind, she put her hands together.

Whens he was asked to stop, she …

Tuxedo Thief Says Police Ruined His Prom

At this point, you've probably heard at least one story about a criminal making a dumb mistake that lands them in jail.

In some cases, they're being captured after posting pictures of their hijinks on social media websites.  Last year, two car burglars were captured in Northern California because one of them accidentally butt-dialed the police while the crime was in process.

The arrest of Kyle Laderoot adds to the long list of stories about criminals who aren't very good at being bad.

Why? Because if you're going to steal a $600 tuxedo from a store window, it's probably best to not …

REDRUM Doesn’t Equal Murder, Right?

'MURDER' Tat Doesn't Make Him A Murderer
When a man decides to get the word "MURDER" tattooed across his neck, even backwards, in big block letters, it's bound to raise some eyebrows -  especially when find himself on trial for murder.
And that's the situation with a Kansas man was arrested on first-degree murder charges.

Court documents show Jeffrey Chapman was arrested in late 2011 after Damon Galliart's body was found in a ditch.  The defendant has been in custody since then and like many such defendants has not been successful in posting a bail bond.

$15K Worth of Kindness of a Stranger

It's hard to imagine that anyone would put up $15,000 cold, hard cash of their own money to help get a total stranger out of jail.

But that's exactly what happened late last week, when Jennifer Bartley saw 25-year old Calvin Wilkes being taken into custody.

She's described the event as being one of the worst things she had ever seen.

Wilkes and two others were arrested last Thursday for allegedly  causing a disturbance near the Light Street pavilion.  Officers said they refused to leave, and that's when things got heated.

The arrest was brutal,  according to bystanders, who say the methods used …

Identity Crisis: Being Arrested for Failure to Identify

The issue of failing to identify yourself properly to police officers has recently blown up in the news after a YouTube video was posted showing a young woman in Austin, Texas being detained by two officers who had been handing out jaywalking tickets in the area.

There was such a commotion during the incident, with the girl screaming and crying to passersby, that it has gained national attention.

Witnesses, including the man who shot the video of the incident, said that the girl, 24-year-old Amanda Jo Stephen, had been jogging across the street while wearing headphones.

Special Delivery: Sending Children Through The Mail

Would you believe that there was a time in the U.S. where you could mail your baby to grandmas house?

The answer is: Yes.

From 1913 to 1920, it was legal to mail a child.

In January 1913, the US Postal Service introduced Parcel Post, which allowed people to ship packages that was too heavy for the traditional letter carrier. Packages could weigh up to 11 pounds.

It has been reported that there were some instances where people would actually mail their young children - who met the weight requirements - to a relative.

As shocking as this sounds, the reality was not so …

Assault with Odd Weapons

People are assaulted every day.

Most often, it is simply an assault with a fist or a foot. Other times it can be a baseball bat or a knife or a gun.

Then, there are times when the weapon is something completely unexpected.
Yes, Deer
Domestic disputes are rarely a laughing matter. They often end with arrest and tears.

In 2011, Chelsea Harrison, 23, was arrested for assaulting her live-in ex-boyfriend with a set of deer antlers after he broke down the door to the house the two shared.

Terry Nowakowski said that he and Harrison were only living together for financial reasons and to …

What Not To Do: Visiting A Jail While On The Lam Will Get You Arrested

You would think if a person was aware they had outstanding arrest warrants, making a voluntary trip to county jail would be at the bottom of their to-do list.

But alas, criminals don't always make a smart-decisions list and check it twice, and when they don't, they often find themselves in trouble.

That's exactly what happened last week, when two people involved in shooting a FOX television pilot visited the Cook County Jail.

The first man, 52-year old James Suhajda, was found to have a decades old warrant stemming from an old domestic violence arrest.  The other man, whose name has not …
