Another San Joaquin Makes A Run From The Honor Farm

Sources close to the San Joaquin County Jail Honor Farm have confirmed yet another inmate has tried to escape from its walls.

The now fugitive is 19 year-old Pedro Arquiaga, who was last seen just before noon on Saturday.  When officers did the 12 o'clock count, he was gone.  Jail officials say the defendant was booked into the facility on Nov. 1 and was reportedly charged with vehicle theft, hit and run, burglary, obstructing a police officer and receiving stolen property.

It's not immediately clear if he was still eligible to post bail bonds at the time of his escape or …

Godzilla Arrested Nearly 60 Times In Past Two Years

A man who prefers to go by the moniker "Godzilla" has once again been booked into the San Joaquin County Jail.

Authorities say the habitual defendant is formally named Scott Swafford, and he's been arrested nearly 60 times in the past 24 months.

Most of his run ins with the law are for being drunk in public, according to jail staff, and in most cases, police bring him in so he can sober up.

At one point, he'd even been arrested three times in just four days.  In another instance he was arrested five times in less than two weeks.  Jail staff …

Grand Theft Cheese Bus? It Happened In NorCal

Authorities in Northern California have said they've arrested two men who literally made off with the cheddar.

Suspects Ryan Monaco and Brian Lancaster are believed to be connected to a crime that took place last weekend.  Basically, the pair is accused of commandeering Tillamook cheese vehicles from an area parking lot.

And once the thefts took place, the media, and social media fans of the beloved brand, made sure the news went viral.

Authorities think the suspects stole a pick up truck and a trailer that contained three microbuses, all of which were part of a cheese transport caravan.  The vehicles stopped …

San Joaquin Sheriff’s Replace 300 Faulty Guns

A glitch in nearly 300 handguns caused quite a stir at the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Department after they needed to call in aid from other local agencies while they sorted the issue out.

Representatives from the sheriff's department confirmed a recent purchase of about 300 handguns, all of which turned out to be defective.  It wasn't until they started testing them out at a local firing range, that deputies learned there was a problem.

Ultimately, a glitch in their design meant the firing mechanism turned out to be faulty.

Two San Joaquin County Jail Inmates Escape In Two Days

A spokesperson for the San Joaquin County Jail Honor Farm has confirmed that two inmates have escaped in as many days.

It all started last weekend when inmate Melvin Rasberry managed to escape the French Camp Jail.  Corrections officials said they counted him in the morning, but when they did rounds later that night, he was nowhere to be found.

A second inmate escaped the following day.

Representatives from the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Department said they searched the area extensively, but turned up empty handed.

The first inmate is reportedly a "known associate" of Matthew Cook, otherwise known as escapee number two. …

Stockton Police Square Off With NFL Players In Charity Game

Pro football players from the San Francisco 49'ers and the Oakland Raiders traveled to the Delta College Gym last weekend to shoot some hoops with members of the Stockton Police Department.

It was all in the name of charity, they said, and all the funds raised that night will benefit the Stockton PD Youth  Activities League.  The nonprofit group is run by volunteer police officers and it helps sponsor programs aimed toward providing local youth with valuable life skills.

The organization was founded in the mid 1970s, they said, and donations make up a large chunk of their budget.

Officers received a call earlier this week about a man who was violating a domestic violence restraining order.

San Joaquin Police Arrest Two For Stealing $400,000 in Walnuts
It seems a little nutty at first, but it's true.

San Joaquin Sheriff's Department officials have confirmed that two area residents have been arrested and booked for grand theft walnut.

A judge issued arrest warrant for Pedro Becerra and Mario Oheda after an investigation showed they may be responsible for pilfering more than $400,000 of the hard-shelled snacks from a local orchard.

Police further believe one of the now defendants is responsible for the theft of two tankers from the city of Modesto.

Can You Spare $40 Million? San Joaquin County Seeks Funding For New Jail

San Joaquin officials have asked the state if it can spare $40 million in grant funding so the county can build a new jail.

The reason for the pitch relates to the ever-aging Honor Farm facility, which is antiquated and out of date.   If construction does move forward the new jail will also provide programs geared toward helping inmates reintegrate into society.

These programs, according to those close to the project, are designed to reduce recidivism rates and keep former offenders on the straight and narrow.
