The Los Angeles Sheriff and LA Police Department have many jails throughout Los Angeles County. Ultimately, all the jails feed into the main County system which is in downtown Los Angeles.

Let’s take for example, you are arrested in the Van Nuys area. Likely you will be processed into the Van Nuys Police Department. If you are not bailed out through the Van Nuys Police Department, at some point it is very likely you might be transferred to downtown Los Angeles.

The Men’s Central Jail in downtown Los Angeles is the largest jail facility in the world. As such, it can also take 12 - 24 hours to be released. We recommend to our clients that they call us as quickly as possible so that we can get them out as soon as we can.
