I think many people heard from their parents, “If you go to jail, be prepared to spend the night.” You may want your loved one to feel the impact of poor judgment or actions.

My answer to this is always the same: The jail system today is not a place I’d leave anyone I know. Jail is a scary place and can be dangerous. Of course, not every arrest lands people in a violent jail setting, but dealing with the legal process itself is enough to teach anyone a lesson who will learn it. The arrestee faces the embarrassment of having been arrested, the booking process, the loss of freedom, the prospect of explaining their actions to the loved one and the court system, not to mention the expenses involved along the way.

Being bailed out quickly may avoid transfer to a larger jail and will help the defendant to present the best possible case.
