Not Your Typical Valentine Break-up

An Arizona man is in hot water after breaking out of prison on Valentine's Day.

Inmate Joseph Dekenipp said the effort was all in the name of love.  During the escape, he sustained scrapes, cuts, bruises and is now facing additional charges- all because he wanted to see his girlfriend.

Corrections officials say the escape was quite the effort- especially since the detainee had to scale a tall fence and work his way through razor wire in order to make his way off the property.

The inmate and his girlfriend planned to meet at a saloon that was about 10 miles southwest of where the jail was located, jail staff said, but thanks to the diligent efforts of the sheriff's department, those plans were thwarted.

Deputies were able to capture the escapee about three hours after he made his way off the property and took him back into custody within minutes of his better half arriving at the bar.

Being away from his girlfriend was breaking his heart

Jail records reportedly show the inmate was booked into the facility in January of this year on car theft charges.  He is also accused of trafficking stolen property, evading, driving on a suspended license and grand theft.

Not only is the escape going to add additional charges, they said, it's unlikely the judge will allow him to be released on bail bonds.
