    WINDSOR POLICE DEPARTMENT INFORMATION

The town of Windsor was voted to contract with the Sonoma County Sheriff's Department for their law enforcement services. The Sheriff's Department has received a five year contract to provide law enforcement to the Town.

When someone is arrested in Windsor, both males and females will be transported to the Sonoma County Jail, located on Ventura Avenue, in Santa Rosa. If you are planning to visit someone at this jail, it is best to adhere to the jails rules, regulations and visiting hours.

The booking process at the Sonoma County jail typically includes mug shots (photographs), fingerprints, and background checks. This process may take anywhere from 2 to 4 hours or more depending on the defendant’s individual situation. A bail bond cannot be posted with the jail until the defendant is completely booked into the system.

Release from the jail may take anywhere from 30 minutes to 4 hours, depending upon the jail staff, and the defendant's individual circumstances. It’s important to know that if the defendant is not bailed out, he or she will generally remain in custody until the matter has been resolved in court.
