    UCB POLICE INFORMATION

There is a full-service police department at the University of California Berkeley, with 64 sworn officers and 45 full-time civilian personnel, as well as 60 student employees.

The officers on campus are vested with the same law enforcement authority as any municipal officer throughout the state. Each officer has completed the California Peace Officer Standards and Training as well as the additional training required to work in a campus environment.

The UC Berkeley Police Department is responsible for all patrol, investigation, crime prevention education, emergency preparedness, and related law enforcement duties for the campus and community. The department operates 24-hours a day, seven days a week.

The Field Operations Division includes the Patrol Bureau, Building Watch, K9 Unit, Investigations Bureau and Threat Management Unit.

    NIGHT SAFETY SERVICES

Students, faculty and staff on campus are encouraged to use the Night Safety services when traveling the area at night. This free service is offered to the entire campus community. Uniformed UCPD student employees will provide a walking escort 365 nights a year.

Night Safety Shuttles are available until 2 a.m. from Parking and Transportation while school is in session.

    PAYING FOR A BAIL BOND

In California, the cost of a bail bond is set by the Department of Insurance. It is equal to 10% of the bail amount. So, if bail is set at $15,000 then the amount paid to a bondsman will be $1,500.

We accept payments with all major credit cards, and payment plans can be made for those who qualify. In most cases, we do not require collateral to secure a bail bond.

This is a situation that no one likes to find themselves in, but working with a reputable bondsman can make it easier to deal with.
