RICHMOND POLICE DEPARTMENT AND JAIL

The Richmond Police Department serves a diverse community of residents which reside over a large geographic including 32 miles of shoreline, numerous neighborhoods, an active port, significant industrial resources, retail and business centers, and acres of park land.

The Richmond Police Department has broken down the city into three different districts they serve which are, (Northern, Central and Southern). Each district is divided into three smaller beats. Every officer in the Patrol Bureau, with a few exceptions, is assigned to an individual beat.

Preventing crime is the goal of the police department and citizens alike. Reducing crime, and the impact it has on the citizens is the ultimate goal of community oriented policing.

If someone you know has been arrested in Richmond, they will likely be transported to the Richmond City Jail. for processing. This is a temporary holding facility only. Most defendants will then be transferred to the Martinez Jail. During the booking process, the defendant may be interviewed, fingerprinted, booked and necessary reports will need to be completed.

When you bail someone out of the Martinez jail they should be released within a few of hours. Jail staff may not be able to let us know when an arrestee will be released, but once released; they will have access to a phone. You should be aware that if they do not make bail while in jail, they will be held until their first arraignment.

TECHNOLOGY EQUALS FAST APPROVAL

We can get you through the approval process quickly over the phone in just a few minutes. We can also meet you directly at your home or the Richmond jail or the jail where the defendant is being held.

We'll do our best to make it the most convenient for you.
