ATM Theft Via Forklift? It Almost Happened In Florida

Earlier this year, a Pennsylvania man was arrested after he stole a bulldozer with the intention of selling it to a scrap yard.  He was arrested and eventually booked into a local jail pending bail bonds.

Florida officials, though, say they're still on the lookout for a suspect who managed to make off with a fork lift.  If anyone has any information on who this is or where sheriff's deputies can find them, they're apparently all ears.

Authorities say the 10,000 pound piece of construction machinery was not only stolen from a construction yard, the thief then drove it about a …

Car Theft Blamed On Inmate Overcrowding

In Oct. 2011, California initiated its inmate realignment program, which required that certain inmates who would have once been sentenced to serve time at state run prisons be shifted to the county jails.

Since that time, local detention centers have been dealing with growing pains and many have started to burst at the seams.   The answer to this, according to sheriff's officials, has been to let certain local low-level pre-trial offenders out on their own recognizance;  sentenced inmates are often being released early.

Uber-bad Decisions?

California State Senator Ben Hueso may be rethinking his decision to vote against ride-sharing after being arrested on a DUI just hours after voting casting a vote which is considered against the ride-share industry.

Last Thursday night, just hours after he voted in favor of adding hefty regulations to the popular taxi-alternative services, he was picked up by the California Highway Patrol after he was seen driving the wrong way down a one way street.

Hueso was booked into the Sacramento County Jail on two counts of misdemeanor DUI.  He was released the following morning after posting $1,500 bail bonds.

Barbies Hiding Thousands Of Pounds Of Pot

A spokesperson for the San Bernardino Police Department said criminals' plans to make a bunch of money selling weed went up in smoke after officers found more than 10,000 pounds of marijuana that had been hidden behind a pile of Barbies.

Officers said it all started after an investigation pointed them in the direction of a truck depot.  When they arrived, they found a tractor trailer that smelled pretty suspicious.

When they opened the back they found what appeared to be a shipment of toys but upon closer look, they realized the dolls were little more than a decoy.

A spokesperson for …

Theiving Jedi In Hot Water For Stealing Star Wars Memorabilia

Just in time for Comi-Con...
An 18 year-old Riverside man could soon find himself booked at the Riverside County Jail now that officers believe he'd run off with someone else's swag.

The man was initially questioned in the downtown area by members of the gang unit.   After a few minutes, they discovered a bunch of (likely valuable) Star Wars memorabilia on him.

Although he tried his best to convince police that he'd "found" the items, the force in the young man was not strong enough to pull the lie off.

Detectives said he hardly seemed credible, so they confiscated collector cards, a poster …

Man Steals Truck To Drive Himself Home From Jail

Last year, authorities in Southern California were pretty confused when a San Diego inmate stole a cab to drive himself home from lock up.

But now, another man seems to have followed in that inmate's footsteps; Tracy Police say they've arrested a man who is accused of doing the exact same thing.

The only difference between the crimes, it seems, is that inmate #2 decided to make off with a truck.

Officers said it all started last Thursday morning when a San Joaquin County Jail employee called their office to say that Ruben Beltran had stolen a truck and was probably using …

Man Buys Drone So He Can Spy On LAPD

Daniel Saulman believes that turnabout is fair play
The Los Angeles Police Department is getting a taste of its own medicine now that a local man says he's bought a drone of his own.

Privacy groups have been completely up in arms about the idea of law enforcement agencies using these things to spy on citizens, but in this case, its owner says the device is being used to keep tabs on the LAPD.

In a recent interview Saulman admitted using his new toy to zoom in on traffic stops, DUI checkpoints and other instances in which he feels, officers could be …

Man Gets Run Over By Daughter When He Tries To Stop Drunk Driving

A 37 year-old woman remains behind bars this morning on charges that she backed over, and killed her father when he tried to prevent her from driving drunk.

Police say the now defendant, Soukvilay Barton, had been drinking with family members at her parents house last weekend.  At some point in the evening she decided to head home, but her father didn't want her driving while she was under the influence.

He even went so far as to follow her out to the driveway as she was getting into her car.  When that didn't work he stood directly behind her vehicle …

El Cajon Police Say Fake Gun Was Used To Rob Gun Shop

If you're sitting there scratching your head after reading the title to this post, you're certainly not alone.

But yes, a spokesperson for the El Cajon Police Department has confirmed a fake gun was used to hold up the Hiram's Guns and Spirits store.  (Yes, you read that correctly; the store sell guns and booze and their Yelp reviews are hilarious.)

Anyway.

So officers have said that last Saturday afternoon three masked suspects made their way into the store, smashed a display case and ran off with a handful of real firearms.

The three men then hopped inside a red sedan and sped …

California Teens Arrested For “Ballin Too Hard”

Every now and again you'll hear a story about someone getting arrested for something really really silly- like stealing a pack of gum or on a warrant for an old unpaid parking tickets.

But in the case of these two Bay Area teenagers, they figured, if they were going to do something illegal, they were sure as heck going to go big or go home.

It all started last Saturday when 19 year-old friends Nhima Kahsay and Mohannad Halaweh used a fraudulently obtained credit card to rent a McLaren sports car.

At some point, though, the dealership reported it stolen.  That's when …
