The experience of being arrested can be one of the most frightening, stressful situations a person will ever be in.  But if the person who is being taken into custody acts accordingly, the process will go a lot smoother.

It will also help ensure they'll have the ability to be released in just a few hours on bail bonds, which can help get them back to work without fear of getting fired due to missing an extensive number of days.

  • Cooperate, and be polite Arguing with an arresting officer is the fastest way to take an already bad situation and turn it into something that is much, much worse.  If you resist arrest, you could be slapped with additional charges; if you try to hit or attack members of law enforcement, this will also get you into worlds more trouble.  The more charges a defendant has against them, the higher their bail is likely to be set.  If bail is set very high, you may not be able to afford to post bail bonds, which could have you stuck behind bars (and away work) for an extended period of time, which may not go over well with an employer.  If an arrestee is polite, answers basic questions about their name, address, date of birth, etc. and is cooperative, this can save them a lot of headache and can help expedite the booking process.
  • Ask to speak with an attorney  Although it's natural for people to want to tell their side of the story, in the case of an arrest, the less you say, the better.   Just like they say on television and in the movies, "anything you say can and will be held against you in a court of law".   Having legal representation present when you are being questioned can help prevent you from sticking your foot in your mouth.  At this point, you should be most focused on getting through the booking process and getting released on bail bonds as quickly as possible.
  • Call a bail bonds company ASAP When you contact a reputable bondsman early on in the arrest process, they can help you get released as quickly as possible.  In many cases, you can be home within a few short hours, which can help prevent you from needing to call off work.  Most people find it's much easier to fight their legal battles from outside of the jail, and when you hire a bondsman you can return to your work, your family and your job while you're waiting for the case to get resolved.
