More than 60 people were cited by members of the Long Beach Police Department during last weekend's gay pride celebration for things ranging from being drunk in public to selling alcohol to minors.

For anyone who has ever attended the parade, or festival, it's quickly apparent that with the number of people in attendance, that it's pretty much a cluster.

But that's not to say that those who choose to break the law can assume they'll get away with it.

This year, the department partnered with investigators from the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) to make sure all the rules were enforced.

In the first part of the sting, the task force employed the help pf people under the age of 21 to try to buy booze from local retailers.  More than 50 percent of stores went right ahead with the sale.

Back in the parking lots, they were on the lookout for people drinking in public.  Of those who were consuming adult beverages, they looked for attendees who were visibly intoxicated and for others who were providing alcohol to minors.

Approximately five dozen people were cited by the time all was said and done, they said, and in light of all the problems they saw, they required stores stop selling alcohol an hour before standard time.

A spokesperson for the Long Beach Police Department said this isn't a one-and-done operation.  These types of stings will continue to take place in the future, and they'll be attending both large and special events throughout the year.
